GOLF GEORGIA | The Abaco Club on Winding BayTuesday, June 25, 2019
Eyes on the water, toes in the sand, waves rolling in toward the inlet island. A most sublime of sunrises, lightest of breeze, palm trees waving like hands. Carefree turtle coasting by, parrots chatter, seagulls cry. Picture postcard paradise, where time stands still … but also (sigh) flies.
These aren’t the lyrics to a Zac Brown or Kenny Chesney song, though such stars could very well have composed some music here. These words are admittedly inadequate attempts to describe the serene-tothe-point-of-surreal scenes I witnessed for a week – scenes replicated daily in perfect detail to the guest that stands on the whitest of sandiest shores at The Abaco Club on Winding Bay – an escape that is more a private sporting club than a resort, and yet public enough to allow everyone to visit once. One visit to bait you, set the hook quick on all of your senses, then capture your heart and mind forever – an effectively magnetic marketing plan it seems. Sure worked on me.
