Q: What kind of plane does Tropic use?
A: Tropic operates a fleet of Cessna Caravan aircraft.  The plane comfortably seats up to 9 guests.

Q: How many pilots will fly?
A: Each flight will be crewed with two pilots.

Q: Where is Tropic Ocean Airways located?
A: Tropic is conveniently located at the Sheltair Aviation FBO at Fort Lauderdale International Airport. The address is Tropic Ocean Airways, 1100 Lee Wagener Boulevard, Fort Lauderdale, FL 33315. Tropic is on the “General Aviation” side of Fort Lauderdale Hollywood International Airport, not the main terminals. Free unsecured parking is provided.

Q: What is the cost of the flights with Tropic?
A: Each leg of the flight is discounted to $304 for guests and members of The Abaco Club, inclusive of all taxes and fees. Charters are discounted by 5%.

Q: How can I book a flight?
A: Flights can be purchased through the Tropic Air Desk service via phone (888-462-0462) or email.

Q: How do I pay for my flight?
A: Tickets will be charged to membership accounts and, in the case of non-member guests, hotel folios.

Q: What is included with my flight on Tropic?
A: Tropic provides access to their VIP lounge, valet parking, complimentary shuttle to and from Fort Lauderdale International main terminal, as well as in-flight beverages and snacks. Passengers are also allowed up to 50lbs of personal belongings per flight.

Q: Can I bring more than 50 lbs. of luggage?
A: Based on space availability. We recommend calling the Air Desk (888-462-0462) within 7 days of your scheduled departure to confirm space availability. If the flight is not sold out, or if excess capacity is deemed available, you will be able to bring excess baggage for no charge.

Q: Can I have items shipped directly to Tropic?
A: Yes, items to be carried on board your flight may be shipped to Tropic, so long as they arrive within two days of your scheduled departure (items will not be held by Tropic for more than two days). Please contact Tropic (888-462-0462) to arrange for shipments. There is no charge for this service.

Q: Is there duty free and other shopping at the Sheltair terminal??
A: Yes, there is a duty free shop at the Sheltair terminal, as well as a wine shop, café and gym/sauna.

Q: Are liquids in carry-on luggage subject to the same restrictions as commercial travel?
A: No

Q: Can children fly free?
A: No, all children, including lap children, are required to purchase a ticket.

Q: Can I bring my pet on board?
A: Tropic is a pet friendly company, but there is additional paper work that needs to be completed due to the international flights, please contact reservations@flytropic.com for the next steps if you will be traveling with a pet. You must also confirm with The Abaco Club about bringing pets to the property.

Q: Can I bring food and alcohol on board?
A: Yes, feel free to bring your own food or alcohol.  We just ask you be mindful of other passengers and take off the aircraft what you brought on.

Q: Is there a fee for ticket changes and/or cancellations?
A: Yes, there will be a $100 change/cancellation fee, unless the change is within 24 hours of the scheduled flight, in which case the ticket is nonrefundable. In addition, tickets booked from December 18th – January 10th will be fully nonrefundable, unless the club is able to resell the cancelled ticket.

+ - Arriving at Fort Lauderdale Prior to Flight to Marsh Harbour

Q: How do I get to the Tropic terminal from the main commercial terminals?
A: Tropic Ocean Airways offers transportation to and from the main terminal. Please arrange with Tropic Ocean Airways prior to your flight to schedule a pick-up by emailing reservations@flytropic.com

Q: How much time should I leave for connections at Fort Lauderdale?
A: We recommend arriving at Fort Lauderdale at least 45 minutes prior to departure. If this is your first time making the transfer at Fort Lauderdale International, or if you are checking luggage, you might want to leave a little extra time.

Q: Will my luggage be connected automatically between flights?
A: No, luggage will have to be collected and re-checked in between flights. Please ensure you have built in enough time to collect your luggage and change terminals. We recommend a 60-90 minute layover if you have to collect luggage in Fort Lauderdale.

Q: Where can I park at Fort Lauderdale International?
A: Parking is complimentary at Sheltair FBO when flying with Tropic Ocean Airways! If you do not valet, you will need to get a parking pass from the guest service representative on arrival.

+ - Arriving at Fort Lauderdale From Marsh Harbour

Q: How much time is recommended for connections in Fort Lauderdale?
A: Given the customs/immigration requirements upon arriving at Fort Lauderdale from Marsh Harbour, we recommend 1 hour and 30 minutes for connections, or 1 hour and 45 minutes if you are checking luggage.

Q: Returning to Fort Lauderdale, where do I arrive and go through customs/immigration?
A: The flight will arrive in the Sheltair FBO, where customs will be cleared and a free shuttle will be provided to the commercial terminals.

Q: Will my luggage be connected automatically between flights?
A: No, luggage will have to be collected in between flights at Fort Lauderdale airport and re-checked. Please ensure you have built in enough time to collect your luggage and check-in with another airline. We recommend a minimum 1 hour and 45 minute layover for this leg of the trip, allowing for baggage retrieval, customs/immigration and check in for your next flight at least 45 minutes prior to departure.
